Dwayne DeFoor, Vice president
Mr. DeFoor is our Board Vice-President and has worked for IBM for 35 years, currently working as a Procurement Advisory Professional. Mr. DeFoor has been an integral part of the Susquehanna Township School District community for more than thirty years. After graduating from Suquehanna Township High School and the Univeristy of Pittsburgh he became very involved with our community and has been ever since. He has volunteered over the years with the United Way and the late Governor George M. Leader's Capital City Computer Project. He has been apart of the the HANNA Education Foundation since it's creation, serving in various capacities and committees every year. He has also been instrumental in the success of the STHS Alumni Association and currently serves as the President. Mr. De Foor was named the Susquehanna Township School District Distinguished Alumni in 2016.
John Fabian, President
Mr. Fabian serves as our Board President and is a life long Susquehanna Township School District resident, incredibly dedicated to our community and now raising his own family here. He served six years as a STSD School Board Director, been active with Penn State Alumni Association, a founding member of the Hill Society, and is the Vice-President of the STHS Alumni Association. Mr. Fabian became apart of the Foundation in 2010 and was elected President in 2015. He serves on all of our Committees, but spends the most time working on growing the Programming Committee.
susan anthony, secretary
Ms. Susan L. Anthony is the secretary of the HANNA Education Foundation and a member of the program, marketing and fundraising committees. A resident of Susquehanna Township, Susan is a graduate of Susquehanna Township High School, Class of 1970. She is the former director of communications for Susquehanna Township School District. She is a trustee with the Dauphin County Library System and a founding board member of the Susquehanna Art Museum.
ANDREW RUTHERFORD, TREASURER
Mr. Rutherford is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ with Enders Insurance and holds several degrees in both Business and Coaching. He was born and raised in Susquehanna Township and is proud to be now raising his two children here as well. He joined the HEF board in 2015 and become the Treasurer in 2017. Mr. Rutherford serves on our Finane and Marketing Committees. He is very active in the community and is also involved with the Harrisburg Young Professionals.
JUSTIN FLEMING, TRUSTEE
Mr. Fleming is one of two new Trustees we welcomed to our Board this year. He is the Government Affairs Director for the Pennsylvania Partnership for Children and also serves as the Ward 8 Susquehanna Township Commissioner. Mr. Fleming is a proud Susquehanna Township School District Alumni and parent. He is very active in our community serving as a Trustee and Elder at Market Square Presbyterian Church, baseball coach, Member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg, and apart of the Thomas Holtzman PTO. We are also happy to have him serve on our Programming and Marketing Committees.
GREG DENK, TRUSTEE
Mr. Denk is the principal owner of Denk and Associates, a well established Harrisburg accounting firm. He has been instrumental in the HANNA Education Foundation's successes over the last 10 or more years. He has served as both the President and Treasurer for our organization throughout those years. He holds a deep commitment to our community that started when his children were students in the District. Mr. Denk is also very involved with the 4 Diamonds Thon and the local chapter of Rotary International. Mr. Denk serves on our committees as needed with his expertise.
JAIME MARSHALL, TRUSTEE
Ms. Marshall has been an instructional coach at Susquehanna Township High School since 2014. She is an active participant in Pennsylvania’s Institute for Instructional Coaching helping to create and maintain networks of coaches to support teaching and learning in public schools. In addition to her coaching role, Ms. Marshall has held positions from elementary to college in many capacities including classroom teacher, reading specialist, and graduate school professor. Ms. Marshall has been the recipient of two HANNA Education Foundation Mini Grants and currently serves on the Programming Committee.
SHANE HARVEY, TRUSTEE
We welcomed Mr. Harvey as a new trustee this year. He is Assistant Vice President Treasury Management Officer for First National Bank’s Capital Region. Although he didn't graduate from Susquehanna Township Schools, he did attend them for many years. Mr. Harvey has also been very active with the American Lung Association and the Lung Force Walk. He brings a wealth of knowledge to both our finance and fundraising committees.
LINDSAY LESTER, NON VOTING TRUSTEE
Ms. Lester has been apart of our Foundation for nearly ten years and is the Assistant Principal at one of our District Elementary Schools. She began serving on the Board as a teacher representative and working with the after-school programs that were run in the elementary schools. As an art teacher she was instrumental in working with and creating programming for our students. She now serves as a Non-Voting Trustee, but her knowledge is an invaluable resource. She is also very active within our community with the local graduate chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
KERRY MULLEN, TRUSTEE
Ms. Mullen is the Creative Director at PSECU, and has more than two decades of experience in brand strategy, advertising, marketing and design. She has been a Board Trustee since 2013, and serves on the Marketing, Communications, and Events Committees. And, she is a proud STSD Parent. Ms. Mullen is active with Leadership Harrisburg Area, and has generously contributed marketing work for many area non-profits such as Play for P.I.N.K., the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Dress for Success, events for Susquehanna Township School District, and the marketing work for our Foundation.
Lori shienvold, executive director
Ms. Shienvold serves as the HANNA Education Foundation's first Executive Director. Her background is in project management, and as a parent in our District she has been very involved with our community and Susquehanna Township Schools for many years. Ms. Shienvold has served on the Boards of the Parent Teacher Organizations and volunteered countless hours for our students within our schools and with athletic teams. We are excited to have her apart of the Foundation and are looking forward to her vision as she grows our organization.
Trey Trkula, SENIOR student representative
Mr. Trkula is a Senior at Susquehanna Township High School and is also very active in many activities at the High School. He is involved with the 4Diamonds Mini Thon, Student Government, the Annual Pink Out event, and inducted into the National Honor Society. He is also very involved with Key Club and was recently named the editor for the Pennsylvania District of Key Club International. His athletic activities include Varsity Tennis and Cross Country and his is also member of the Band. We look forward to working with him again this year.
Lauren Funk, SENIOR student representative
Ms. Funk is a Senior at Susquehanna Township High School and involved in many activities in and around the community. She is a member of the Key Club, involved with the 4Diamonds Mini Thon, is a Varsity Member of the Soccer team, and plays soccer and is a referee at Susquehanna Soccer Club. We are excited to have Ms. Funk join us as Student Representative again this year.
DEVON SIMS, JUNIOR student representative
Mr. Sims is a Junior at Susquehanna Township High School and is very involved with the youth in our community. When he isn’t playing on the Varsity Soccer Team, he can be found at Susquehanna Soccer Club fields refereeing soccer games, helping his church youth group, and more. We are excited to have Mr. Sims on our board this year.
SOPHIA SHIENVOLD, JUNIOR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE
Ms. Shienvold is a Junior at Susquehanna Township High School and involved in her school community. She is a member of the Varsity Soccer Team, Varsity Indoor Track Team, and the Varsity Spring Track and Field Team. She is also involved with the Key Club, Interact Club, and will be induced into the National Honor Society.
