HANNA’s Pantry began in response to a nutritional need for Susquehanna Township School District students. It originally operated as the Adopt-a-Family Food Pantry at Thomas W. Holtzman Jr. Elementary School, led by Mary Olley, volunteers, and Rockville United Methodist Church for nearly 18 years.

In 2019, it transitioned into HANNA’s Pantry as a HANNA Foundation project and moved to the high school. The Pantry was built and continues to be supported by volunteers from Faith Immanuel Presbyterian and Tree of Life Lutheran Churches, Susquehanna Township School District students and staff, HANNA Foundation Trustees, and many dedicated community members. It operated as a small school choice pantry prior to COVID-19 and pivoted overnight into an outdoor drive-through pantry that never stopped serving the community during that historic time. HANNA’s Pantry filled a food insecurity need that many didn’t know existed in Susquehanna Township.

By 2022, HANNA’s Pantry outgrew the educational mission of the HANNA Foundation and Foundation Trustees recommended the formation of a separate non-profit organization to allow both organizations to work efficiently at their missions. HANNA’s Pantry, Inc. maintains its long history as a member agency of the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and partnership with Susquehanna Township School District.
